Specifications of CRO and their Significance

A range of oscilloscopes are available for use in laboratory, service station and for research work. They are in several models manufactured by many manufacturers with added facilities. Single trace, dual trace, three trace and four trace scopes are available. The basic Specifications of CRO and their Significance is explained as follows

Two basic approaches are there for the test and measuring instruments. Stand alone instruments and Modular instruments. Stand alone instruments such as monolithic scopes are one piece units providing simple functions and featuring case of use. They ensure portability, small size and light weight. They are mostly used in field work.

The other type of Modular design has its versatility as its prime advantage. Many functions can be combined economically in a single system. There will be scope for flexibility of the package. As many as 15 plug ins and 4 main frames are available to meet the various demands in the laboratory or research organisation. Some of the special features are :

Provision of digital multimeter with single trace.

Frequency counter with single trace or dual trace.

Curve tracer arrangement.

Four trace arrangement. Etc,

With the above facilities the modular type CROs are very useful. They are inter-changeable, and expandable. The Technical specifications a general purpose oscilloscope are given below
